[UPDATE – June 8] Battleship Iowa headed to permanent home on San Pedro waterfront [May 31] The Iowa arrived on Wednesday in SoCal. She is anchored out, getting cleaned. April 24, 2012 is a notable date that’s important in the history of the USS Iowa. The crew placed the battleship’s original mast back late Tuesday morning. As seen in Eastern Iowa News Now: “It’s a major milestone on our path,” said Robert Kent, president of the Pacific Battleship Center, the organization working to restore the Iowa.
